“PART DOCUMENTARY, PART ANIMATION, PURE MAGIC” – Shelley Seid, Sunday Times. In Liyana, five Swazi orphans turn past trauma into creative fuel for a story that sends a young girl on a dangerous quest. In telling Liyana’s tale, the children use art to transform and shape their own stories.

Maputo Mensah seeks the same opportunity for children in Ghana, where he is building the AKPE CULTURAL CENTER to preserve and promote traditional dance, drumming, song, and storytelling of Africa. The project is sponsored by the Boulder County Arts Alliance, and this event is co-sponsored by LiyanaTheMovie.
