About
The Engineers Without Borders Rwanda team strives to provide clean drinking water for
Cyanika, our partnering community in Rwanda. Water resources in this region are scarce during
the dry season causing many community members to have to collect water from ditches and
lakes, which can be up to thirteen miles away.
Our mission is to design and implement rainwater collection systems that provide the
community members with enough water to last through the dry season. This water is not only affordable, but also easily accessible and cleaner than their traditional water sources. Our first system was implemented in the summer of 2014, and we have since constructed three systems in neighboring villages. These systems have been met with overwhelming support and gratitude from the community, and currently supply water for over 2,300 people.
